Open Question: Purchasing Property at a Tax Sale?
Purchasing Property at a Tax Sale

After purchasing property at the courthouse sale for unpaid property taxes does the purchaser have legal right to evict occupants during the redemption period and if so how quickly can they be evicted?

It is homesteaded so the redemption period is 2 years.

We would like to purchase, evict quickly in hopes that they cannot raise redemption monies before having to vacate then depending on the ‘condition’ of the home lease until redemption period is up and then make improvements and occupy as our primary residence. If the current owners can raise redemption monies before eviction then we will get a good return on our money quickly.

Another question is ‘if’ we lease the property and during the redemption period they make payment how long do the tenants have to vacate, I would think that it would need to be a month to month lease with a 30 day vacate notice????

I researched the Texas laws and found this, “the purchaser of the land at the redemption sale is entitled to actual possession of the land during the redemption period”, cited Burkholder v. Klein Independent School District.

Open Question: Help deciding career? Any suggestions or thoughts?
I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology with no interest in pursuing psychology any further. I was going to school for accounting but I do not have the money to complete the degree so I’ve decided to just find a career. The problem is that I don’t know what career to go with. I was thinking sales but that is too risky but I am willing to give it a try since I am financially motivated. I am afraid to do sales since I do not have an outgoing personality, nor am I extremely aggressive.

Next, I thought about trying an administrative assistant but I see no room for advancement in this role. I could try for executive admin eventually.

I also thought about hr, but that is so hard to get into.

Another career was retail management since I could probably try moving up and eventually land a district management position.

I have 5 years of retail management experience (small specialty store), but I am getting no responses to my resume and I’ve been applying to all jobs. Is it the economy? Any thoughts or suggestions on a career path?
Good observation and point, Mr. Pickle. I do have a ‘reason’ for everything. I would love to be a psychologist, but that is not financially possible for me. I should’ve thought about that before I decided to major in psychology. I just want to live comfortably, and be happy.
I don’t really have a love for any career but I like office work and some aspects of business.
