Open Question: What is going on with my dog?
I have a 7 year old pug/chihuahua mix. I rescued him from an animal shelter 3 years ago. I recently moved into a new duplex. One night, my fiance and I were sitting in the living room while my dog (Pork Chop) was in the kitchen eating. All of a sudden, we hear my dog yelping like he is hurt and then hear his food bowl turnover. When I get to the kitchen, his food is all over the floor and the water is spilled too. He wasn’t yelping anymore but seemed a little scared. I didn’t really think too much of it. A few weeks later, I am in the living room and hear him yelping again, this time, his food bowl was not knocked over. Well, last night, I was home alone. I was in the living room and had just fed him. Within 5 minutes of feeding him, he starts yelping louder than ever and won’t stop. I hear his food bowl rattle a lot. I was too scared to even walk in there (I am a 22 year old female - thought someone could be breaking in). I ran to the front door and keep yelling his name so that he would follow me outside. I noticed that all of his food and water was spilled all over the hallway. Finally, my dog came outside and jumped on my lap and was shaking. I went inside a little while later but never saw anything. I looked in every cabinet and corner and under every piece of furniture to see if it was a mouse or something. I don’t know what is wrong with my dog and find all of this very odd… What do you think it is?
He does not have a self-filling water bowl, or doggy door, or bite marks. He does have stink breath. He has been eating the same dog food for a couple years. Our dining room and laundry room are all connected to the kitchen, so a lot of times, he will eat while I am cooking, eating, or doing laundry and it never happens. It only happens when I am in the living room.

Open Question: ANother insert…rate please!?
“Oh, god,” I jumped up from the bed and darted to the bathroom, barely making it to the toilet in time, hyperventilating and dizzy. I leaned over and vomited, heaving and gagging in a not-so-attractive manner. Jay was immediately by my side, gathering up my loose hair and holding it up out of the way, all the while his hand caressing my back.
“Take a deep breath,” he murmured. “Do you want some water?” I sat up and wiped my mouth on the wad of toilet paper he had handed me. I was shaking and sweating profusely, my heart pounding against my ribs.
“Maybe we should get you to Dr. Connors,” Jay said, his eyes scanning my face.
“No hospitals,” I mumbled, rubbing my face with my hands. “Please no doctors, Jay.”
“Kacey . . .” Jay started to object, but he was interrupted by the slamming of the front door.
“Jayson?” Gabby called loudly. “Kacey? Rob, Mari? Are you guys home? Helooooo?”
“Be out in a minute, sis, keep your pants on!” Jay hollered back. I stood up shakily, Jay’s hand on my arm. After rinsing out my mouth and throwing back some aspirin for my migraine, we went out into the living room to greet Gabby.
“I brought you guys a surprise!” she squealed, leaning over the stroller to unbuckle the baby. She came back up holding Willow. “We just wanted to come see Aunt Kacey and Uncle Jayson,” she said, cradling the baby in her arms. “Here, wanna hold her?”
“Of course,” I stepped forward as Gabby handed Willow over to me. I cradled the baby girl to my chest, unable to resist the urge to croon at her. It was only moments before I caught Gabby staring at me with a funny look on her face.
“What?” I asked. She immediately averted her gaze to the floor, looking shameful.
“You don’t look well, Kace.”
“Gabrielle!” Jay cried. I closed my eyes an inhaled deeply, clutching Willow to me.
“Don’t worry, Gabby. Cancer’s not contagious.”
“Kacey!” Gabby cried. “You know that’s not what I meant!”
“I know.” I handed Willow back to her and let Jay take my hand. “I’m sorry.”

Open Question: Buying a fixer upper, how to get money for repairs?
We’re thinking about buying a fixer upper that needs some minor repairs (or so it seems) a contractor will be coming out with us to estimate repairs today, but I was wondering how we might go about getting extra money to do those repairs? The property is bank owned and is a pretty good deal compared to other houses in the neighborhood, but looks like it might have some water damage on the ceilings in the restrooms, around front windows, and all the flooring will need replacement. We can come out of pocket for some of it, but not all. Is there any way to get money if we do not yet own the home? If you’ve done this before, what would you recommend? Also, the home will be lived in by us for the time being, but we will undoubtedly sell in the next few years. Thanks!
